These idea are not expensive and will not break the bank. A motto I try to remind myself of when wanting to do something special for anyone in my life is, memories over money! Yes, you need money sometimes to make lasting memories but there are things you can do AT HOME that will be just as memorable for your teen daughter. Here I will share 11+ teen girl birthday party ideas.
It’s hard to shop for anyone let alone a picky teen who insists on keeping up with the latest trends. I swear shopping for a toddler is so much easier. They don’t care what they wear most of the time and will play with a cardboard box and be content.
Planning a party for a teen girl can be exhausting and expensive. The first thing I try to do is limit the number of friends she can invite. I have limited that number to 3. She can invite three of her closest friends to our home and/or one event of her choice. This alone helps with cost.
In this post I will share what we did to celebrate my daughters 14th birthday. This was a huge success and my daughter and her friends had such a great time. The total cost of her party was about $130. I will also share (in not as much detail) a few other in-home and out of the home event birthday options.
This post is all about teen girl birthday party ideas.
Teen Girl Birthday Party Ideas
The first thing I did was ask my daughter who she wanted to invite to her birthday party. Once I got an idea of the type of friends I was planning for, I then asked her what she wanted to do. She named about 2 things (“I don’t know” and the trampoline park). Sometimes I dread planning for these types of events. We have an interestingly mixed family dynamic and sometimes these events are…interesting.
I try not to be last minute when it comes to planning for anything but the uncomfortableness birthday gatherings bring makes me procrastinate a bit. The only part of all this that I was most concerned about was money and space. I know we have a pretty big family and I want everyone she invites to feel comfortable. I also know how expensive it can be to rent a space big enough for everyone or troublesome it can be to find a free space for everyone in the winter. The only palace that made sense to me was – my home! I am a bit of an extravert turned introvert and so I am learning to regain the joy of hosting.
We finally landed on, the Escape Room! For my daughter’s 14th birthday, we started at the Escape Room. While they were trying to escape, I went to the coffee shop next door and enjoyed a nice iced coffee. We then ended up at our home where we later met family for cake and pizza. Before all of our family arrived they played games on the Xbox, hung out in our loft area and did what 14 year old’s girls do – talk about boys, school drama, and laugh at TikTok videos. Once all of our guests arrived we had pizza, cake and ice cream while she opened all of her gifts.
The entire day may have cost me about $130 for the Escape Room tickets, cake, ice cream, a few balloons, pizza, and drinks. This does not include the gifts I got her. It was a huge success. This was an affordable idea and most importantly she had a really good time with her friends.
